June Observances at NVIH

June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, a time dedicated to increasing understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia while encouraging healthy habits that support brain wellness at every stage of life.

At Northern Valley Indian Health, we recognize the importance of caring for the whole person — mind, body, spirit, and community. Brain health plays a vital role in overall well-being, especially for our elders and loved ones who may be navigating memory-related conditions. Through compassionate care, education, and community support, we remain committed to promoting wellness for all generations.

Throughout June, we also recognize several important observances that encourage healthier communities:

  • World Environment Day on June 5 highlights the connection between environmental stewardship and community health.
  • National Men’s Health Week, June 15–21, encourages preventive care and conversations around physical and mental wellness for men of all ages.
  • National Hydration Day on June 23 serves as an important reminder to stay hydrated during the summer months to support overall health and safety.

We encourage everyone to take time this month to support their cognitive health through regular physical activity, healthy nutrition, hydration, quality sleep, social connection, and preventive healthcare visits.

Please note, all NVIH clinics will be closed on June 19th in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.

Together, through awareness, education, and community care, we can continue building healthier futures for generations to come.
