Lettuce Wraps

With the warm weather, there is nothing like a refreshing meal. Try these lettuce wraps as a lunch or dinner option while trying to beat the heat! This recipe can easily be adapted to your dietary needs, restrictions and preferences. Enjoy experimenting!

Ingredients:

  • 1 head of your preferred lettuce, cored and outer leaves removed
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise, mustard or your choice of sauce
  • 4 slices deli turkey
  • 2 slices deli ham
  • 1 thick slice mozzarella cheese, cut in 3
  • 2 slices tomato, cut in half
  • 1 thin slice red onion
  • Parchment paper for wrapping

Directions:

  1. Lay a square of parchment onto your work surface. Layer 4 – 5 pieces of lettuce in the middle of parchment paper.
  2. Spread mayonnaise or mustard in the middle of the lettuce wrap. Layer turkey, ham, on top of the mayonnaise, continue with cheese, red onion and then tomato.
  3. Using parchment paper as a guide, roll the lettuce up as tightly as you can. Tuck the ends of the wraps towards the inside, and continue rolling like a sleeping bag. When it is completely wrapped, tightly roll the remainder of the parchment around the lettuce.
  4. Using a sharp or serrated knife, cut the wrap in half.
  5. Enjoy!
